Why families choose us

Care that feels like home, not an institution

We're a single, family-run home. Not a chain. That's the whole difference.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง

Family-run, hands-on

The owners know every resident's name. We answer the phone ourselves, no call centre, no script.

๐Ÿฅ

Specialist nursing & dementia

Trained nurses on-site 24/7. Dedicated dementia care, including day-and-night reassurance for residents who wander.

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

Real meals, silver-service

Cooked fresh daily, served properly. Special diets handled with the same attention. Family welcome to join for lunch.

๐ŸŒฟ

Activity, every day

Music, gardening, baking, visiting pets, day trips. Mum or Dad doesn't sit in front of a TV. That isn't our home.

What you'll find here

Your room. Your routine. Your day.

Moving doesn't have to mean giving up the things that make you, you.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Your own room

En-suite, garden or courtyard view. Bring your furniture, your photos, your own quilt, whatever makes the room feel yours.

โฐ

Your own routine

Up early or up late, breakfast in bed or in the dining room, walk before tea or after. Your day, the way you like it.

โ˜•

Friends here, already

Card school on Tuesdays, gardening on Wednesdays, films on Fridays. Or quiet, if that's your thing. Both are normal here.

๐Ÿšช

Family come and go

Any day, any time. No booking, no waiting room. Your visitors are our visitors too.

Things we did on purpose

The features most homes don't talk about, but you'll feel the difference

When we designed Aldridge Court, every choice answered the same question: would this work for my own mum or dad? Some of these are easy to miss on a first visit. Worth asking about at every home you tour.

01

Floor-to-ceiling windows

If your loved one uses a wheelchair, a window 6ft up is a wall. Ours run from floor to ceiling, so the gardens are visible whether you're standing, sitting or lying in bed. Compare with the next home you visit.

02

Cooked meals, not catered ones

Meals prepared on-site by our cook every day, served properly at the table. Speech and Language Therapist input on textures when needed. The food is genuinely a step up from what most residents cooked for themselves.

03

Activities coordinator on staff

Music, gardening, baking, school choir visits, day trips, programmed every week, not occasional. The "This is me" workbook captures each resident's likes and history so activities feel personal.

04

Registered Manager on-site, not over the phone

Amy Purewal is here, in the building, not running the home from a regional office. You can ask to speak to her on any visit and she'll answer the phone herself out of hours when she can.

05

Palliative and end-of-life care

Compassionate palliative and end-of-life nursing, planned with families and the GP. Most homes don't talk about this part; we'd rather you knew it's covered, properly.

06

Family welcome, any time, no booking

You don't book a slot to visit your mum at home. Why should it be different here? Drop in any day, 9amโ€“5pm. Lunchtime gets busy, but the kettle is always on.

A note from the owner

"We built Aldridge Court to be the home weโ€™d want for our own parents."

When my family bought Aldridge Court, the question we kept asking was simple: would we leave our own mum here? If the answer was no, we changed something.

That's why we're a single home, not a chain. Why our staff stay for years, not months. Why we don't hide our fees, our CQC report, or anything else. You're trusting us with the most important person in your life, you deserve to see exactly what you're trusting us with.

Come in and meet us. Bring your siblings, bring a list of difficult questions. We'd rather you spent two visits getting it right than one visit feeling rushed.

From our family folder

Letters our families have written us

When you visit, this folder sits on the coffee table while we make tea. We've never had to write the words ourselves. These are exactly as they came.

I struggled with the decision for nearly a year. The guilt was unbearable. Looking back, the only thing I regret is not coming to Aldridge Court sooner, Mum is happier here than she's been in five years. I can finally be her daughter again, not her exhausted carer.

โ€” SarahDaughter of resident

What sold us was that Jat answered the phone himself on a Sunday afternoon. Two years on, the staff still feel like family. Dad has dementia and they treat him like a person, not a diagnosis. We tell every friend going through this, visit Aldridge Court first.

โ€” MichaelSon of resident, Walsall

After three weeks of respite I had my mum back. She'd been losing weight at home, here she eats properly because the food is actually good. I cried when she went home. Then we booked her in permanently.

โ€” RachelDaughter of respite resident

We toured eight homes. Aldridge Court was the only one that didn't feel like a hospital. The garden was full of residents and family on the day we visited. That's what told us everything. Two years on, every visit still feels that way.

โ€” Jenny & TomFamily of resident
Every letter on this page is real, scanned in as it came, with permission from the family who wrote it. There are dozens more in the folder on our coffee table.
In their own words

From the residents themselves

The people best placed to tell you what life here is actually like. We asked them to write whatever they wanted, these are exactly what they said.

I was nervous about giving up my house after fifty years. Six months in, I haven't looked back. The room is mine, the routine is mine, and there's a card school every Tuesday I never miss.

โ€” MargaretResident since 2024

My daughter pushed me to come and visit. I'm glad she did. I'm also glad nobody pushed me to decide, I came for tea three times before I made up my mind. That mattered more than I expected.

โ€” BrianResident since 2023

The food's a step up from what I cooked for myself, I'll tell you that. My son said the gardens look just like our old back garden in Walsall, and he's right. It feels familiar, not strange.

โ€” PatriciaResident since 2024

I told them at the start: I'm a private person. They've respected that. I have visitors when I want them, quiet when I don't, and tea always at four o'clock the way I like it.

โ€” WalterResident since 2022
Every letter is from a current resident, written and signed in their own hand. We'd like you to meet them when you come for tea, they're often the best people to ask the awkward questions to.
